Winner of a Europe-wide competition, this 12-year contract achieved 36% energy cost savings and reduced CO₂ emissions by 1,085 t/year. The project involved a comprehensive Energy Performance Contracting (EPC) programme for the largest opera in Berlin, focusing on the renovation and optimization of major plant systems.
The scope commenced with a detailed Energy Audit and the establishment of a robust Emission Baseline to form the foundation for performance-based contracting. A broad set of DSM Measures and Energy Efficiency Retrofit interventions was implemented, including the upgrade of HVAC systems, cooling optimization, and BMS enhancements, as well as improvements to energy generation, lighting, and building automation.
A full Energy Performance Contracting structure was designed, covering profitability analysis, financing concepts, and supplier selection, followed by end-to-end project coordination. During the operational phase, continuous Measurement, Reporting & Verification (MRV), energy controlling, and energy management processes ensured that the guaranteed savings were transparently measured and contractually validated.
This project represents the founder’s established executive track record, delivered prior to the inception of Haas Sustainable Consulting LLC.
No EPC or implementation services are offered under current HAAS advisory mandates.
